At MTS Summer, children sing, dance and act with inspiring teaching artists and other kids who love musical theatre as much as they do.
Our MTS Company Kickoff welcome morning brings everyone together. Then we fill the week with creative workshops, games and laughter, growing skills and confidence along the way.

Inside Kids Week
Great music, inspiring teaching artists and a week packed with workshops, games and surprises.
Each workshop group learns songs and harmonies, rehearses choreography and works on scenes and characters with our teaching artists.
No experience needed. If your child loves musicals, sings around the house or is keen to give it a go, they’re ready for Kids Week.
Group Singing
Learn musical theatre songs, sing together in harmony and discover how to tell a story through music.
Dance & Movement
Learn exciting musical theatre choreography, explore different ways of moving and enjoy dancing together, whatever your experience.
Acting & Scene Work
Bring characters and stories to life through short scenes, improvisation and imaginative acting games. There's lots of opportunity to get up and have a go.
Games, Activities & Summer Fun
A brilliant holiday week needs time to play! Expect theatre games, outdoor fun, group challenges and plenty of chances to laugh and make friends.

Learn From People Who Love What They Do
Our Teaching Artists are active performers and emerging leaders in Waikato’s musical theatre community.
Children work with our Teaching Artists across the week: performers to learn from and role models to look up to. They jump into the games, demonstrate songs and choreography, and help children practise until it clicks.
Our Programme Coordinator welcomes children, looks after wellbeing, answers family questions and keeps each day running smoothly.

Your MTS Summer crew
We start and finish each day together.
At the start of each day, The Morning Hui brings everyone together to connect and warm up bodies and voices.
We finish each afternoon with The Daily Share, showing work in progress and cheering each other on.
Week highlights include our Day 1 Talent Show and Midweek MTS Surprise.
Time to play and recharge matters too. We build in a half-hour morning tea and a full hour for lunch, with our teaching team there to chat, join a game or help rehearse. Children can head outside, spend time with new friends or settle in with a book.

Studio Sessions rotate through singing, dancing, acting and other creative workshops. Optional extended care is included in the programme price. On Friday, afternoon care starts after our celebration at 4.30pm.
How the Week Runs
A little rhythm helps children feel at home, with enough variety to keep the week playful.
Here’s the shape of a typical day:

A warm welcome, check-in and playful group warm-up.
Morning · Sing, dance, act
Creative sessions and theatre games, with a morning-tea break and time with new friends.
Lunch · Recharge together
Time to eat, chat and play.
Afternoon · Explore and share
More music, stories, movement and games, finishing with a relaxed celebration of the day.
3pm · Programme finishes
Our creative programme runs 9am–3pm. Drop off from 8am and pick up by 5.30pm, with extended care included in your $460 week.
Friday Celebration
Friday runs until 4.30pm, finishing with our family celebration.
Family and friends join us for highlights from the week’s songs, scenes and dances. We celebrate the children’s work and say goodbye to new friends, until next time.
Extended care included
Drop off from 7.45am and pick up by 5pm, Monday to Friday. Our creative programme runs 9am–3pm.
Before and after the programme, children enjoy supervised games, drawing, creative activities and time with friends.
It’s all included in the $460 five-day early bird price, with no additional care charge.

Our musical theatre team brings energy, care and a love of working with young performers.
We encourage children to try new things, develop their skills and enjoy being part of the group.
Whether they arrive with friends or meet everyone on Monday, every child is seen, supported and welcome.

Berkley Middle School

After you enrol, we’ll email your $50 deposit invoice per student. The deposit is part of your tuition. Pay within seven days of the invoice to secure your place and agreed rate.
Balance due 4 January 2027.
Payment plans are available for the balance. Request one in the form and we’ll confirm your instalments and due dates.
Can’t make the whole week? Tell us in the form and we’ll confirm the arrangement and price before invoicing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Kids Week for?
Children aged 8–12 who love musical theatre or are curious to give it a go.
Children with experience in classes and shows join children trying musical theatre for the first time.
What if my child is nervous or doesn’t know anyone?
Children can come with a friend or join us on their own.
We start the week with our MTS Company Kickoff welcome morning: introductions and games designed to build fast friendships.
Our teachers and Programme Coordinator help each child connect with their workshop group and get involved. We build our company spirit from the first morning.
What should my child wear and bring?
Comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for dancing and outdoor activities, a water bottle, morning tea and a packed lunch.
We’ll send enrolled families more information before the programme begins.
Can my child attend fewer than five days?
Kids Week is designed as a full-week programme. If your child can’t make all five days, tell us in the enrolment form. We’ll confirm the arrangement and price before invoicing.
How does extended care work?
Children can arrive from 7.45am and be collected by 5.30pm. Programme hours are 9am–3pm Monday to Thursday. Friday runs until 4.30pm, including our family celebration.
Extended care is optional and included in the programme price. We’ll check which days you need before the week begins.
What if we need to cancel?
Email admin@musicaltheatrestudio.co.nz. Cancel by 4 January 2027 for a refund less reasonable administration costs, capped at $50. For later cancellations, we’ll try to refill your place; any charge is limited to our reasonable unrecovered loss.
Transfers to another age-appropriate student are also possible. Read the booking terms for details, including absences, MTS cancellations and your consumer rights.
What if we enrol after 4 January?
We’ll confirm the payment deadline before you accept the place. Payment plans can still be arranged by agreement.

Kids aged 9 to 12 who love musical theatre, enjoy being creative or want to build confidence performing in front of others. No prior experience is needed. More experienced kids will be offered extension options.

Comfortable clothes they can move in, closed shoes, a water bottle, packed lunch and snacks. Friday’s relaxed sharing is part of our normal day. Come ready to sing, dance, act and enjoy the week.

This is very common. The first morning is designed around confidence building games and gentle activities that help friendships form quickly. Many of our strongest friendships began in holiday programs just like this.
