Students at the Centre
At The Musical Theatre Studio, our students are at the heart of everything we do. This is a place where passionate performers can grow their skills, their confidence, and their sense of belonging.
The studio creates clear pathways for students to step onto bigger stages in this amazing region and beyond.
Every class is designed to help you sing, dance, and act with more freedom, while connecting with friends who share the same passion for musical theatre.
Since opening in 2021, hundreds of students have joined the studio and many have gone on to community theatre productions, training programs, and careers in musical theatre.
Classes are held at the stunning Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, in light-filled, purpose-built studios that inspire creativity and give families a welcoming place to gather.
Our Team
SCOT HALL
Scot is the Director of The Musical Theatre Studio, where he leads a passionate team dedicated to helping students grow in skill, confidence, and a lifelong love of musical theatre. With more than a decade of experience as a voice teacher, director, and performer, he is committed to creating an inspiring and supportive environment where every student can thrive.
As both a performer and director, Scot brings a unique perspective from both sides of the casting table. His performance credits include leading roles such as Javert in Les Misérables, Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Mr. Banks in Mary Poppins. He has also directed numerous productions, including The Little Mermaid, Pippin, Fame, Urinetown, and The Scarlet Pimpernel, giving him valuable insight into what helps performers succeed on stage.
Scot is currently training as an Estill Master Trainer under internationally recognised vocal coach and mentor Anne-Marie Speed. By combining world-class vocal technique with storytelling and artistry, he equips students with the skills and confidence to perform at their very best.
His teaching philosophy is built on the belief that every student has the potential to deliver remarkable performances when supported by expert training, meaningful performance opportunities, and a welcoming community.
At The Musical Theatre Studio, Scot has fostered more than just a place to learn, it is a creative family where students are encouraged to challenge themselves, support one another, and discover how far their passion for musical theatre can take them.

RACHAEL BLOEMENDAL
Rachael is an accomplished performer and choreographer working across the Waikato.
Her recent choreography credits include Mary Poppins Jr, Be More Chill, Witches of Eastwick, Elf Jr, and First Date, alongside work with St Peters’ Musical Theatre Academy, Deller Productions, Tahi Ta’i Tasi, Morrinsville Theatre, and Wintec Theatre.
She recently performed as Sally in the national tour of Cat in the Hat, and as a swing on the Australian tour of Madagascar the Musical.
Rachael brings a deep love of storytelling into every class.
She’s passionate about helping performers feel confident in their bodies, connected to the music, and proud of the work they’re creating alongside their castmates.
